Why I Love Photographing Men

I love photographing men! Not because they love having their photo taken (most would rather be somewhere else), but because they tend to get on with it. I suggest something, they give it a go, and we move on. They don't usually arrive with a list of things they hate about themselves or spend the whole shoot worrying about how they look. Most are there for one reason: they need good photographs for their business. They'll often tell me they're awkward in front of the camera, but that's very different from being self-conscious. Once they realise they don't have to pose, perform or fake a smile, they relax. That's when the best photographs happen.

More Than a Headshot

Men don't come to me because they enjoy being photographed. They come because they need images that represent who they are and what they do. Whether they're running a business, launching a new venture or updating an online profile, good photography helps people connect with the person behind the brand. The goal is to look like the best version of yourself.

Everyone Has a Story

The men I photograph aren't models. They're from a variety of backgrounds including accountants, engineers, artists, musicians and business owners - men with stories to tell. Some arrive quietly confident. Others admit they'd rather be somewhere else. Either way, my job is the same: to notice what makes them interesting and bring it to the surface. Sometimes that's a thoughtful portrait. Sometimes it's a smile that appears halfway through the shoot. Sometimes it's simply catching someone being themselves. Every session is different.

It's Easier Than You Think

The biggest surprise? Almost every man tells me afterwards, "That was fun". You don't need to know how to pose or what to do with your hands. I'll guide you through the whole session, whether it's a quick Coffee & Content shoot or a full branding experience. If you can have a conversation, we can create photographs that feel natural, professional and unmistakably you.

How it Rolls

Every photoshoot starts the same way: with a conversation. Whether you're joining me for a full personal branding session or one of my relaxed Coffee & Content mornings, my priority is helping you feel comfortable enough to forget about the camera. We'll chat through your ideas, look at inspiration if needed, and ease into the session at your pace. As the shoot unfolds, I'll guide you with lighting, prompts and gentle direction to capture images that feel like you on your best day. Because great photographs come about through genuine expression and connection - and putting your trust in me. If you'd like to refresh your business photography, book a Coffee & Content session for a quick update or get in touch to arrange a discovery call for a bespoke branding shoot.
