Two sessions for Brooks Accountants
I recently spent two very different shoots with Suzie, Chris and Madison from Brooks Accountants - first at their office in Lytham, and a few days later out and about around Lytham on a lovely evening. Brooks is a family business, and that was something I really wanted to come through in the photographs. Of course, they needed professional images for their website and an upcoming magazine feature, but I wanted the collection to show more than what they do. I wanted it to show who they are together. And when you spend any time with the three of them, that part is actually quite easy. There was plenty of laughter.
Starting at Brooks

We started at the Brooks office in Lytham, with a mix of individual portraits, photographs of the three of them together and some more natural working shots. They already had a great Brooks logo wall, so of course we had to use it — although I wanted to get away from simply lining everyone up underneath it.
With Suzie, Chris and Madison being family, it made much more sense to photograph the connection between them. We changed positions, mixed up the groupings and, most importantly, let them talk and laugh. Those in-between moments often ended up being my favourites.
Out to Lytham Green
A few days later we swapped desks and laptops for an evening around Lytham Green. This part of the shoot was much more relaxed. We walked, chatted, stopped when we found a good spot and, with Bonnie the Labrador joining us this time, it naturally felt more like photographing a family than a business. And that's really what I wanted from the two sessions. Not two completely separate sets of photographs, but a collection that shows the professional side of Brooks alongside the family behind it.
And There May Be More
I loved creating this collection with Suzie, Chris and Madison. Two very different settings, but what comes through in both is the warmth and connection between them. And it looks as though we might not be finished yet. There’s already talk of an autumn shoot with another member of the family joining us - which I’d love.
