Louise originally got in touch because she needed a new photograph for her website and LinkedIn. What started as a headshot soon became something much more relaxed, a day photographing her in one of the places where she feels most at home. Louise and her husband Will love Grange-over-Sands. It's where they come to switch off, spend time together and enjoy a slower pace of life. So rather than taking a few photographs against one background, it made perfect sense to photograph Louise here.

It Started with a Headshot

We started at the lodge with some relaxed professional portraits of Louise working. From there, the shoot naturally shifted from creating one perfect headshot to giving Louise a collection of photographs she could use in many different ways.

Grange Over Sands

Louise and her husband Will love spending time in Grange-over-Sands. It's where they go to switch off, spend time together and relax, so it seemed like the perfect place to photograph her. And I think that feeling comes through in the photographs.

Bold. Brave. Brilliant!

Louise is also the author of Bold. Brave. Brilliant! - a book about overcoming imposter syndrome with courage and confidence. She’s now writing her second book, and Grange is where she can find the space to sit, think and write. So of course, her book had to make an appearance too.

Out and About in Cartmel

Once we’d finished at the lodge, we headed into Cartmel for a wander. The old stone walls, little streets and buildings gave us plenty of different places to photograph, and a completely different feel from the images we'd already taken. Will came along too, following us around, carrying bags and generally being a very good photography assistant while Louise and I stopped whenever I spotted somewhere that caught my eye.

Ralph

And then there’s Ralph. At 13, he was quite entitled to take things at his own pace. He joined us for a few photographs before deciding his work was done and heading back to the comfort of his bed. I’m so glad we included him. These are the little things that make photographs personal, and I know they’ll mean far more to Louise and Will than simply having another portrait.

A Little Bit of Louise

What I love about this collection is that it feels like Louise. There are the professional photographs she originally came to me for, but there’s also her book, Ralph, Cartmel and the place where she and Will come to relax. I think we captured a lovely little bit of Louise and her life as it is right now.
