Early Starts, Big Results.
This shoot was for select car leasing preston, specialists in premium car leasing.
There are two types of people in this world: those who suggest a 5:30 am photoshoot
. . . and those who agree to it. Unfortunately, I fall into the first category. Steve and Tony, to their credit, fall into the second. We met at Bolton viewpoint in conditions best described as “whose bright idea was this?” Cold, quiet, and absolutely no coffee — which, in hindsight, feels like a critical oversight for something that was entirely my idea.

What it takes to get the shot (hint: it’s early).

The plan sounded great in the days leading up to the shoot:
“We’ll catch sunrise, get that premium light, be in and out quickly.”
What I didn’t factor in was:
The temperature.
The early start.
The two cars already parked exactly where we needed to shoot.
Which led to the slightly awkward task of approaching two drivers at dawn and asking, “Sorry to be a pain but . . . any chance you could move your cars so we can do a photoshoot?”
To their credit — they did. No fuss. Possibly just relieved it wasn’t the police!
With the scene cleared, we got straight into it. And here’s the impressive part — despite the cold, the hour, and the fact they’d agreed to my brilliant plan, Steve and Tony were absolute pros. No complaints, no dragging their feet — just straight into it:
standing shots, walking shots, leaning on cars, in and out of seats . . . all done like it was the middle of the day, not sunrise in borderline freezing conditions. And then — somehow — 30 minutes later, we were done. Everything captured. Clean, efficient, no messing about. Still cold. Still no coffee. But done.
Not many people would get up that early, stand in the cold, and fully commit to it. Steve and Tony did — and were great sports about the whole thing. If nothing else, this shoot proved one thing: Great photos come from good planning . . . and occasionally, slightly questionable decisions.
