A portrait exchange with Angie from Silver Turtle Photography

When two photographers swap places on either side of the lens, magic tends to happen—and that's exactly what unfolded when Angie from Silver Turtle Photography and I decided to do a portrait exchange at the studio in Penwortham.

Angie and I first crossed paths at the WIBN International Women’s Day event at Mitton Hall—an inspiring afternoon celebrating women in business, creativity, and community. We instantly clicked (pardon the pun, but really, how could we not?). There’s something special about meeting another creative who understands the quiet magic of capturing people at their best.

As photographers, we’re often the invisible ones—guiding, styling, capturing—but rarely captured ourselves. So this collaboration was about more than just headshots. It was about honouring each other as professionals, creatives, and women who deeply understand the power of being seen. We met up at the Penwortham studio for our photo swap—Angie in her beautiful boho florals, me rotating through a small army of jackets (no regrets). With mutual trust and a good dash of humour, we created space for each other to simply be.

Angie brought her gentle, soulful energy to the session. Her smile is pure sunshine, and she exudes that rare, unfiltered warmth that makes people instantly feel at ease. Capturing her was a joy—natural, honest, and full of light.

Then it was my turn to step in front of the lens—always slightly nerve-wracking for a photographer! But Angie had me giggling and relaxed within minutes, gently guiding me just as she would any of her clients. I felt seen — not just styled or posed, but truly seen. That’s the difference when you’re working with someone who really understands the experience.

These portraits are a celebration of creative connection, of showing up for one another, and of embracing the power of being both behind and in front of the camera. If you’re a fellow creative and you’ve been putting off getting your own portraits done—this is your sign. Step into the frame. You deserve to be seen, too.

With love and a full memory card!
